Hard disk says its UDMA 33?

Ive had my Seagate Baraccuda 120gig for a while now, and its got all my info on it. it seems fairly fast, but I was checking through my device manager, and it says that it is running at UDMA 33. I can change the setting up to UDMA 133, but when I tried this windows wouldnt boot and I had to revert back to the old configuration.

So my questions are A] does this make a difference to me?

and if A is a yes, B] can you guys give us a hand sorting it out?

    Cheers

YES it makes a diff though it isn't obscenely huge. ATA100 isn't limiting even for the fastest HDs but running ATA33 certainly is. It's mostly a CPU utilisation thing although it does affect peak throughput of the HD too. The 2 biggest possibilities are...

    1. You have a ATA33 device on the same lead, probably as Master. It is unlikely as modern mobos shouldn't have this problem.

    2. Your cable isn't shielded to ATA66-133 specification. Try another one, they usually have a heavier feel to them (and may have ATA66 printed on them).
