Talking Mouse B0rked - New Mouse

As i said in another thread, my MS Optical mouse gave up on me this morning ...double clicking when i was only single clicking. Gave MS a call, they asked for my XP Key...i couldn't give it them basically...So, i got £50 and headed to my local PC World (Hey, i was in a rush, the old was winding me up really bad!!). Came across this beauty and just had to buy it

    New Mouse

This is my first time properly using any wireless input device, there seemed a big difference at first, but im kinda getting used to it now...plus, i personally think it looks great, not too OTT and not to boring. The wheel's tilt comes in handy, the wheels a lot more smooth, more sensitive, but its missing 3 buttons my old mouse had, and it aint the only one missing them! Still, its great, better than my last..till the batteries run out that is Anyone got any views on this? Personally, im more than happy with my choice.

What? They'll hang up - or the person on the other end of the phone will go "yes, but I still want the CD key from your Windows OS!"

    LOL.

That mouse looks rather nice, by the way!

Then i'll have 2 mice, and (if im thinking right) a large phone bill. isnt it 0780 numbers that cost a bomb? Plus im thinking of a mod for the laser etc out my old one and if MS ask for it back, i cant do it.(thought of drilling into my desk and mounting the laser so i roll my hand over the desk and the mouse moves, but i dont wanna hack my desk up!) I cant be bothered either, gonna go out in the glorious weather for a bit. I'm better off leaving it anyway, incase the same scottish woman picks up...as i said i was on XP as i never knew she was gonna ask for my CD Key. You win some, you lose some i guess!

I phoned them up last week to RMA a v1.1 intellimouse explorer. Costs 8p/min, and was on the phone for 19mins 52seconds - im that sad i actually timed it!!!

I spoke to 3 guys, Indian, Irish, and a Arnie impersonator...so they are shipping a new mouse to me, should be here 5/7 working days. Hopefully a V4 intellimouse.

Only asked for the product ID, great service if you ask me. Only way it would be better if it was free .

They are all polite people, only prob is that they say "Hello, im ....whatever..." not one person out of the 3 did i actually here the name properly...hehe.

Blockers, i know EXACTLY how you feel, the scottish woman was hard to understand, she was talking fast and i was sat there thinking "WTF is she saying!?!?"

Anyway, came back to this thread to ask if anyone knows how to take a wired intellimouse optical apart...gonna have a look at the left mouse button. I've tried to slide the red "belly" of the mouse out, and i think thats the only way in, but i dont want to break it

EDIT : Found a guide, screws under the pads....microsoft like doing that dont they? (mouse, Xbox etc)

Well, i just cleaned the inside of the old mouse up(so there goes the warrenty), gonna make my sister use it for a 24 hour period (obviously not constant ) and see if its ok. Then, if its fine, i'll sell it on.

And dont tell me to test it, no way, i love the new one too much Seems faster...better in Unreal 2004 for me aswell.

I'd RMA it back to them again. There's no need for them to know anything other than which OS you are using, your cd key has nothing to do with them. Plus it would mean you have a backup mouse, or you could sell it and recoup some of the money for the new mouse.

Deffinatly a funky looking mouse you got there

I cant RMA it, i've taken it apart and where the pads have been taken away there is slight visible damage to the pads. So, selling it on looks like the only option tbh. Doubt they'll replace a "taken apart" mouse, they'll just say i broke it

I sent mine back without the pads on (it was old, they were badly worn and hindering movment). So dont worry about it
