    Asus post problem :(

Help am having a very odd problem with my A7v8X. My system has been running rock solid, I built it a couple of months ago, mobo as above, Barton 2500, 2 sticks of geil 512mb 3200 ram, ATI 8500. Its all been together for months with no overclock.

When I turn the system on it beeps once (correctly), then sits on the screen saying push del to enter setup, esc to skip ram test, but there is a curse with TY next to "ESC to skip ram". The screen stays the same for 2mins, then the memory test starts and runs correctly. If I push Del or escape nothing happens until the mem test starts?? The system will then boot correctly. If I turn off the mem test it still hangs for 2 mins then runs ok. The system runs fine apart from the pause before the mem test, odd or what.
All drivers, bios, virus protection and firewall up to date.
Any ideashow to sort this 1? Should I return the MOBO under warranty or just grab a NF7-S??
    Cheers
    Flibb

I know the A7V8X the wife has stalled for a while at post when it had no FDD and it was still enabled in the cmos, you tryed resetting it?
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

I may be being really dumb, but sometimes you need to ask dumb questions. Has the Quick POST been disabled in your BIOS? I know in my NF7-S if I disable quick POST, then it does the memory check, although you can skip it by pressing enter. I also know that on my old PC (athlon 700), you couldnt skip it at all. Maybe this is the case with your mobo. I honestly have no Idea, but that was the first thing that came into my head when i saw your post.

RMA if its screwed tho. I hate waiting for computers to start up, as does the rest of the world

I can't remember if I had that problem, but I believe I did for a while. Not sure if it was with my asus either, I think it could have been with my gigabyte board but still have you tryed a bios update? This can sometimes fix bugs like this even if it just starts doing it.
