POST / Startup problems on NF7-S

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, but I have a funny problem with my rig.

Mobo is nf7-s v2.0 in chieftec case with supplied 340w psu
cpu is 1700+, 512mb corsair...

When it powers on, you generally get one low pitched beep, then a second one an octave higher (higher pitched beep) and then the video kicks in, with memory check, and the three lights on the keyboard flash (numlock, scrollock, capslock i think).

Sometimes, I get those two beeps, then a faint low pitched beep (like the first one). The video starts up fine, but the keyboard lights don't flash. The keyboard is dead, as is the mouse. The OS boots up fine, but there's no way to shut it down!

Reset doesn't always solve the problem, as does a powerdown. However, from my recollection, if it's shutdown for some time, or the mains has been disconnected, then it starts up fine.

I'll do some more testing when I'm back home (on Friday - I'm out in Dubai atm), but just wanted to post to see if anyone had come across this.

Any ideas?

Thats a mighty strange one.
All i can sugest is check for shorts, update the BIOS, and make sure thet keyboard and mouse support in the BIOS is set to "OS" and not "BIOS" as this can causes a lot of keyboard and mouse problems.

May be worth trying diff mouse & keybd ... they're cheap or you can just borrow your friends. It is strange, I have Abit NF7-S v2.0.

Once had a duff mouse cause keyboard failure.... ie very dim lights for caps lock etc, and no keys would work..... odd, but worth trying with no mouse attached......
