    SUGO SG03 SSD Install Help!

    Hiya

Was actually doing a rebuild, well sort of, rebuilding my spare rig for a family member in my old and still lovely Sugo SG03B when I got stumped LOL.

I'm looking to install a SSD in there but the HDD mounts aren't your conventional mechanism, so a 2.5" bracket can't even be installed into it from the looks of it!

Anyway, I was a bit concerned about just mounting the SSD anyhow, in case it caused a short or something, especially as the HDD mount is of aluminium IIRC, its just a plate where the HDD's install into, with the plate sitting at the bottom of the chassis.

Now then, as the SSD has metal in the casing I presume, how would it be best to mount it? I was thinking of using some double sided adhesive but the thought of shorting worries me or am I being paranoid?

    Any advice is appreciated!

What do you know, after looking on their site, it seems they have the following for the case:
    http://www.silverstonetek.com/produc...d=221&area=usa

Gotta love it, more spend on a £80 case, great! Only one place has it - Scan, adding delivery charges its going to tip it over £10 I'd presume. Anyone find it cheaper if I go down this route? I Use Scan BTW, so its just about trying to get it as cheap as possible!

Still, would appreciate your advice on the paranoia of grounding etc......!

    Many thanks!

I've installed a SSD in my SG03 without any problem. I think I just used a standard 3.5" to 2x2.5" adaptor.

Double sided tape. its an SSD after all so its not going to vibrate or die if it moves

I do it all the time tbh

Re: SUGO SG03 SSD Install Help!

As per the three posts above me, I've used an adapter and tape/velcro to mount SSDs in my two SG04H cases without any problems.

More often than not, I put the SSDs in the extra 3.5 bracket (the one that mounts horizontally across the case) not for any particular reason, it just left me the option of adding another storage drive in the base if I needed to.

Re: SUGO SG03 SSD Install Help!

I've gone through my order history and found that I had ordered this: -

    Akasa AK-MX010v2 Dual 2.5"

I have it installed in one of the bottom bays as I had to remove the vertical one to fit the cooling in.

Thanks, I'll probably end up ordering one of those or the Silverstone one when I next order from Scan.

I'll keep it in mind mate, thanks. Though its good to hear that double sided adhesive tape is fine!

    Thanks!

The plate that supports the PSU I forgot supports a 3.5" floppy/Media bay drive, so I could possibly just use the 2.5" bracket that came with the SSD, by installing the SSD onto the bracket then installing the bracket with 2 screws (or one) onto the plate! Possibly a result there, if not, the above options are there!

    Thanks to everyone!
