    serious guys?

I have 2*256mb of twinmoss 3200 winbond at the moment and i want to upgrade to a gig so i was going to buy a standard 512 stick

    not a good idea then?

I have to have 200fsb at least for my overclock. Looks like it has to be another 512 with winbond then or maybe crucial.

probably not a good idea, using 2x 256mb in dc the most i could get was 203fsb,2.9v(3v real), x,4,4,2.5...

also 512mb sticks are less overclockable on the nf7 due to it haveing cpc always enabled, although cpc disabled bios' are available but they sacrifice alot of performance for more overclocking headroom

what chips are on the ram you have?(i know winbond but are they bh-5 or ch-5)

corsair is the industry's best and most recommended ram for oc'in and gaming tho... i have the xms pro series 3200 with the built-in heat sink and 18 LED monitor lights on top...very cool. you probably wont notice alot of speed difference, but the corsair will still be more stable for oc'in...also it can an is Guaranteed to oc to 500mhz with ease...ofcourse that depends if ur mobo and system will take it tho. I have also heard that kingston are good but more of a cheap alternative to good value ram, apposed to preformance ram makes like corsair and twinmos....

In the Custom PC test the diff between the cheapest ram and the most expensive was around on 2% in performance at the same speed. Its just that the more expensive stuff could overclock better.

The cheapest generic 512 MB - 3200 ram i can find is from aria.co.uk (£49.35 inc vat) its supposed to be samsung at the mo. OR eclipsecomputers.com (£45.77 inc vat)

    anyone know anywhere cheaper?

cheers mate. I think this a recent problem with twinmos latest sticks with twinmos chips causing conflicts with the nf7. I'l just get another stick of winbond i think.

yeh but... alot of cheap ram sticks dont work very well with certain mobo's ... alot of msi boards and some asus dont like cheap generic ram types.... so its worth getting a stick of ram from a respected ram company such as corsair/twinmos etc cause you know ur gettin good quality components that will work with ur mobo fine.

I have never had trouble with generic ram myself and besides the only recent problems i have heard of were with some twinmos like someone else mentioned above.

Also you can ask what ram it is they have in stock, the aria stuff is apparently samsung at the moment. Of course if you have money to burn and can buy the top notch of everything it doesnt matter, but I would rather spend it on a better cpu or Gcard.

Both are great. Corsair probably cost a little more. I would go with crucial because they have such a good reputation and buying it from www.crucial.com/uk the delivery is free, after sales service is top notch to
