PCI firewire cards

my sisters b/f is looking to get one of these & asked me about them ...i've never used a firewire expansion card since my mobos have always had onboard firewire

having checked out a few online shops there doesn't seem to be much difference between those available, are they all pretty much the same, or am i missing something here??......are there any "special" ones to go for, or ones to avoid?

Doesn't the PCI Bus limit the transfer to 133mbsec and isn't firewire 400mbsec? I dunno firewire isn't really something i've ever used it's a dying breed in my opinion unless the iPod single handedly brings it back into fashion which could well happen.

i never notice any difference, try ebuyer.co.uk for a cheap one!
