    550w psu =)

Ok I've got my CC bill through so another grand to spend again now =)

some of you may remember that my nice posh 350w psu wasnt enough for my pc last month so needed replacing. couldnt afford a good one so had ot get a cheap one for the time being [winpower 550w]

while i havnt had any problems with it I want to get a proper psu now =) dont like using cheap ones for any length of time - plus i want to overclock more so need better rails =)

So whats the reccomendations, i'm looking at a Thermaltake 560W ATX PSU Purepower atm - £72 @ tekheads. £70 is really my limit [ex pnp] so i cant afford a nice globalwin ;/

dont really want a CWT either. Needs sata power, needs to be very quiet [less than 20db] and cable braids are a bonus =) as would be lots of molex's

best prices would be nice too =)

I have heard alot of good things from the tagans. Very rock steady. The only problem some people have found is that it creates a ticking sound which can clearly be heard over a quiet system.

I have two tagans & both are very reliable, stable & quiet. Run mega hot tho. Trade-off for lo noise.

I second that - they're a good quality PSU - especially the 550W (which has all separate rails instead of shared 3.3 / 5 V)

    Q-tec, clearly.

    Ok. Sorry.
In all seriousness, ThermalTake are superb PSU's. I recomend you stick with your current choice

"dont really want a CWT either. Needs sata power, needs to be very quiet [less than 20db] and cable braids are a bonus =) as would be lots of molex's"

They are silent, have 2 sata cables, TOO MANY MOLEX's! and the main cable is braided. Perfect psu.
Rapidelectronics.co.uk sell braid 5 meters for £1.50 which is more than enough.
The insides of the psu are a mess, I admit, but if your not going in there like I have with mine, shouldnt matter...
You could always take the psu out of the case, sand it down and spray it, thenit would look like what you want...

Its a decent psu, and its £55, why not?

Seriosly why do you get a psu becuase of what it looks like, imagine the problems this would cause for so many people if q-tec psu's looked nice...

Tecnically a CWT550W (ADP) is one of the best psus you can get without spending rediculous amounts of money (on a pcp&c for example)
