What to do with old PC hardware...?

Hey all, joined the forums today. I thought a good way to start is to ask if anyone has any good ideas of what to do with old PC hardware. For example - In my garage I have 5 old Windows machines, a (dead) windows server 2003 machine, 2 commodore's under my house (for keeps sake), and plenty of other computer hardware stored away which includes HDD's, floppy drives, memory chips etc. ...The list goes on. I'm just curious to find out if anyone has any good uses for these otherwise "outdated" pieces of hardware.

One great use of floppy drives I have found, is to connect then to an arduino, turning midi files into stepper motor movements: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ2kUtDtYm8&feature=plcp

Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

    Regards

    Hey and welcome

Depending on the age and condition you might still be able to sell some stuff, best thing is once you get enough posts under your belt head over to the for sale section, read the forum guide lines and get selling

Thanks for the warm welcome I tend to bubblewrap most (important) componants, I just hate to see so much potential just sitting around gathering dust.

Yeah we've seen the musical floppy drives a few times now

In general, no - old hardware is vastly inferior to newer old hardware, so unless you've got a particular attachment to it then you might as well ebay it or scrap it
