forceing laptop to run at full speed ??

    hi there i have an hp /compaq nx9010 laptop with a p4 3.06
thing is the processor never gets near that sort of speed always around 1.6 at the most even when i am multitasking and doing alot of work so things can take ages is there a way i can force it to run at full speed when i have the laptop power lead plugged in ?

There should be options for this in the power settings. It may be that you have power saving swithed on, although I think if it is a desktop chip it shouldn't have anything like speedstep.

It should auto go to full speed if it is being put under load. You might want to RMA it as there is something wrong with it.

Sounds like it is nackered then. You can usually turn speedstep off somewhere. Try the bios.
