Your not far wrong. The specs are quoted as peak, not continuous. The max for the lower version (350w) is about 175w.
The continous for this one must be less than 250W at a guess.

The cooling in this is crap, utterly crap. A 5 year old could do better than this - and im not joking. the heatsink on the outside isnt acctually in contact with ANY components, but instead another heatsink! how can ddesigners be so fkn stupid!!!

not quite fanless, and not quite good.
fanless designs are good, but i prefer this modular design:

A fanless PSU's is not such a great idea IMO due to still needing to have airflow through the case. A fan in the PSU provides airflow for the case too making it possible to have no case fans. Change to a fanless PSU and you have to add a case fan so I don't get it.

lol, its just manufacturers praying on consumers with imperfect knowledge (or no knowledge at all) that will pay for this,

The thermaltake PSU looks mean, but from what ive heard, you cant just assume that adding a REAL fanless PSU will make everything great - on most accounts ive heard case temps going really high unless they have decent case airflow. In the end i still think getting a tagan would be better, but the modular PSUs look real slick.

Tagan... thermaltake... bleh.... still worse than the CWT 550w ADP. For the same price I dunno why people are still buying them. Ofcourse I mean techinlally, it can output more power, less ripple etc.. maybe it just loosk crap, and the cables are too annoying (yes, VERY annnoying...).

If you want a fanless psu first buy a decent psu. Second take the mosfets out, noting that some of the heatsinks may be live, possibly bridging a circuit, which needs to be looked at first!
Then get a heatsink, from maplin or RS or a cpu heatsink, both sell adequate ones. Mount your mosfets with mica shims and extend the wires. in the area where the fan used to be, put a small progect box. In this mount your heatsink and your mosfets. Note that other components might get slightly hot, small heatsinks might be needed but they wont make too much heat.
Stick a small silent fan on your heatsink. Chose a fan that you cant hear over the rest of your pc, yet still has some airflow, atleast 5cfm, that should do if youve chosen a good heatsink...

    So thats:
    a £60 cwt 550W
    a heatsink, possibly £10
    Some wire £1
    Some solder - 10p
    project box - £3 (nice bl00 one )
and some effort... you save a lot of money!

Also while your at it you can make your psu modular. You need some wire, molex connectors, another bl00 project box, some cable sleeving , heatshrink etc...

And you may aswell do the vsense mod too.. if your psu supports it, boost those rails a bit

NOTE: I do NOT recommend anyone try to mod a CWT or Antec psu. They are good psus but the insides are a MESS!!! - just getting the lid back on is difficult enough. However my cwt50w psu is silent enough already, and my pc is watercooled and quieter than most pc's. I wont be doing any fanless mod for mine, too much effort. However I might watercool it in the future, that sounds fun
