My current one, the Abit AT7-MAX, supports 12 (8 on RAID, 4 on IDE).

I've never used more than 4 though. Imagine the noise and heat that 12 would produce!

OK, so this isn't all on my mobo, but...

    4 ATA channels = 8 drives
    2 SATA channels = 2 drives
    15 SCSI connections = OMG!

    thats some serious storage

and when your S150 arrives I expect you'll be adding more drives

Well I wish I could afford to populate all those controllers.

    Funnily enough though, I'm downsizing!

My 60GB ATA drive will be taken out, along with the 9GB SCSI and the SCSI card (will sell I reckon.) The two 80GB SATA's I have will be hooked up with the other SATA I'm buying, onto the S150 in RAID5. Backups will be taken externally on my 200GB Icy Box drive.

The computer will be transferred into a smaller case next year, hence the reduction in the number of drives inside.

14 Hard drives - nice - but i see the need for that dropping as the price and size of hard drives improve.

still - 14 300 gig drives would be nice
