    DVR-108 Pioneer writer

Just got a mail from bigpockets, and these are coming into stock - im sure they wasnt expected till Q4 2004 tho

but some crazy specs, highering the bar again

    16X DVD+R, 16X DVD-R, DVD+R (Dual layer) 4X!!

79.99 isnt too bad either, to think i was about to buy a NEC 2510A for 50 notes, 30 more will get me twice the speed on + and -, and almost twice on dual layer

Good choice, but to be honest, I don't sit there, timing my burns like benchmarks, and burning a DVD is hardly an urgent thing, 99% of the time, so I just went for the cheapest decent dual layer DVD burner I could find, which is the 2510.

Paying more to save a bit of time on a non urgent task isn't important to me. If it is to you, then as you say, £30 on top of the cost of a 2510 will shorten those burn times.

i get frustrated with my burner, its 4x, but only seems to do 2.4x, so it takes a good half hour to burn a full dvd

which is ok, it burns dvds, but still its annoying to wait, whether i need it or not, a high speed dvdrw is what i like to have

with 4x coming out what? a month after 2.4x, its tempting to wait for 8x dual layer writers, sods law that if i buy a 4x, 8x will come out, if i wait, it wont

I'm tempted too, but I think I'll wait until dual layer media is cheap and reliable before investing.

i know, its too dear and im not gonna use it, but this one burnin at 2.4 speed is annoying

will probably annoy me later on tho as 4x DL will still take half hour to write 8gb
