Should i upgrade my sound card?

    Hi,

I currently have a Creative Audigy 2ZS sound card (old i know). I've been looking at the Creative SoundBlaster Recon3D PCI sound card which is £40, should i upgrade or not?

Simple answer no... The recon chips are not all their cut out to be and feature very little actual hardware, you only have to look at the card to tell.

Re: Should i upgrade my sound card?

it really depends what you're gonna do, but in most cases, no, you really don't need to upgrade. And if you were to upgrade, get something better than the blaster.

This is true, when I rebuilt my pc I didn't reinstall my A2ZX and I haven't missed it even though I pump the analog signal through to an amp.

My Soundblaster is the oldest part of my rig.

If i hear what i am watching in 5.1 surround, i am happy.

probably the least important part of a pc in my opinion.

If you want to get anything grab an Asus Zonar.

Re: Should i upgrade my sound card?

Oddly enough, I was looking at my x-fi Xtreme Music the other day and wondering whether to pull it. If I plump for the onboard sound, does it still do bass redirect? I run the sound from my card to a Sony home Amp, and thence to 5.1 speakers.

I have a xonar in my HTPC, which is great.
