Ive just ordered 2x512 SODIMM 333mhz from crucial. Everything was going to plan, I typed my bank details, address and everything it asked for and clicked submit.
I recieved an email confirming my order.
Then, I recieved a second email requestion something rather strange. At first I thought it was a scam. But then it turned out to be geniune:
"We have received your order *********, however, it is against our policy to ship to an address we cannot verify with your issuing bank. We have contacted your bank for your name, billing, and shipping verification. To speed up your order, you can fax or e-mail us the top portion of your credit card statement. This will verify your name, billing address, and account number.
If I have not heard from you by 9/7/2004 the order will cancel. Thank you for
your patience regarding this matter. We appreciate your business and want to
assure you that our verification policies are in place for the cardholder¿s
protection."
Now, by ordering from the US I can understand their security and confirmation policies regarding terrorism, but Ive ordered LOADS of stuff from the US before, but never have I been asked to send a statement with my bank details on.
I then Spoke to a crucial representative and she basically said that I need to send this statment to confirm my order. I spoke to her on their crucial hotline tech help.
What do You guys think? Has this ever happened to you?
Sorry Mods if this is in the wrong place. Didnt really know where to post it!
