    Talking Mobile XP goodness

Hehe got me a mobile XP 2400 and here's the info from the codes:

AXMH: Athlon XP Thoroughbred/Barton Mobile 45W
    2400: 2000MHz clock speed
F: OPGA w/ FSB Auto detect
    Q: 1.45v Vcore
    Q: 100¢ªC max temp
    4: 512K cache
    C: 266MHz FSB

Slapped in in my Lanparty NF2Ultra and it POSTs 2.4Ghz default volts (1.55V in the mobo) me will play some more with this I think.....

    UPDATE:

Had a play now on a spare 98SE hard disk:

    This default volts (1.55V actual):

Seems to top out there and need voltage hike for 2.4Ghz (1.7V):

2.3Ghz may need a tweak to make it 100% stable, but 98SE is more flakey than XP Pro, so it's probably fine @ 2.3Ghz 1.55V and sensible (read quiet!) air cooling

2.4Ghz is doable on air but not really worth the extra hassle I reckons.

Cooling was with a TT volcano7+.

    Cheers,

    MM

Came with a couple of other CPUs, I took the gamble it might work in a desktop board and it did.

Cheaper than a regular 2400 too.

if it actually runs @2.4 ghz ie 2400mhz with a 1.55voltage on ure nforce2 board do u think it might well work in my sn41g2 ?
ide be realy interested in purchasing 1 of these if this was the case as i cant realy get hold of a dltc3 xp1700 anywhere and i realy wanted that exact processor for its overclocking potential and its defualt 1.5v power consumption,,dont suppose u know where i could buy 1 do u?

are there any drawbacks at all with a mobile processor compared to a desktop processor?

Updated a bit now. 2.4Ghz is doable, but needs volts.

No idea what they work in and if it may react differently on different chipsets, but on the NF2 it seems happy.

Right it doesn't like volts thru it much as anything over 1.8V it just resets part way into windows. Obviously the more volts the higher the temps.

2.3Ghz 1.55V is the sweet spot for temps (37ishC), 2.4Ghz 1.7V is next, but I'll try it with a smaller quieter cooler (Taisol 760 copper bottom where are you?) and see if it holds 2.3Ghz for me like that. (as long as the heatsink is luke warm or less then that's OK for me) Not very scientific I know, but the old fingers at the base of the heatsink has served me well for years now)

No idea where they could be obtained thru retail channels sorry. They may well be silly expensive new for all I know.

    Cheers,

    MM

I ran 220FSB no problems, didn't post 230FSB though. I was kinda hoping for 250FSB really, but I guess that must be unrealistic, shame, the P4 kit these days can do 300FSB

    How does this pseudo Barton CPU @ 2.3Ghz compare to a P4 HT @ 3.0Ghz (12 x 250) any idea? (This AMD is still 1/4 the money of a 2.4C P4 though!!)

    Cheers,

    MM

1/4 the money and better performance

think, this has 512 cache (barton)

    a xp3200 is 11x200 (2.2) this is 2.3, 2.4?

i reckon xp3300-3500 performance wise, about the same, maybe a bit better for a fraction of the price ^_^

Can't see 'em in the UK, but still looking. Plenty in the USA though and similar price to desktop:
