    I have been doing a lot of testing with RAID recently - much to everyones posting here, I would never trust onboard raid or highpoint with what I have seen.

    3ware really is the only way to go

    The price point is higher but everything is superior - including the bundled cables.

    If you are building the ultimate rig - without doubt this is what I would have in it.

    So you'll be putting 3ware controllers in the Hexus boxes Dave ?

    I'd agree with your above comments to an extent , but RAID starts with SCSI imo

    IDE RAID has never been up to much , and S-ATA raid is great for storage , but not really for performance.

    I've been using hardware SCSI RAID5 in my home desktop for a while and wouldn't contemplate anything else, theres nothing quite like it for speed and reliability.

    If a drive fails nothing lost, except a couple of hours to rebuild the array

    I agree I love SCSI, we are 3ware and SATA
