    Right, I'm gonna order one I think this weekend. Lets hope it fares better than the plextor. Shame really, as it was absolutely lightning at burning CD-R's just not DVDs. Well, lets see how it goes!

    If it burned CDs that suggests that the IDE driver was working fine. The problem was somewhere else, possibly a faulty drive? Unsupported media? Anyway, good luck with the 3500, I wouldn't swap mine for a Plextor.

    You want a 40 pin IDE cable for your optical devices. (40 pin for ATA33/66 devices and 80 pin for 100/133 devices)

    I personally have a Lite-On LDW-811s and use the nVidia IDE controller, no problems here.
