You can but there are a lot of things that are not enabled buy default, because i is a Server OS not workstation. DirectX is another thing.

You need to download the drivers for your soundcard, the XP ones should work.

Well its a server based OS, so none of the usual enhancements come set up as default as in XP Pro. Its dedicated for serving rather than gaming. Most of the driver sets aren't there, like sound cards, network cards etc. Persoanlly if you wanted to play games, stick with XP Pro.

Kinda like Windows 2000 Server is to Windows 2000 Pro.

Ahh ok, i'll stick wif me XP then
Im guess 2003 is easier for setting up mail/ftp/web servers etc..
Well, more reliable at doing it at least....

haha im mcse in win2000 server advanced server and desktop, so i know this ****, i was lookin for maybe someone who had expiriance with gaming on a server os, its a bitch, none of my drivers relly work %100 like this morning i just booted and all of a sudden sound works, when last night it didnt, the drivers crashed on boot-up. its not gona be a gaming box, i just got board and wana play games on it for lans and what-not. -->acidrainy--> its relly ermm, diferent, not relly better, none of the 'fluffy' visuals of xp(saves ram and cpu cycles)and internet is a bitch to work with, its so secure it wont even go to microsoft.com without u needing to tell the pc its "ok". but its alright not a good gaming box, but i got my domain set-up real fast so thats kinda cool, oh wmp9 works on here

It's based on the XP code, but primarily geared for server applications. I thought about switiching to it as my main o/s as my comp is kind of a server on my LAN, but I changed my mind and stuck with XP, didn't want all the head aches of trying to get games to run, just don't have the time.

Might play with it a bit once I get a second system going, but that won't be for a while yet.
