New PSU needed - your opinions and suggestions wanted

Thanks for all the input folks - keep it coming - haven't bought anything (yet)... Going to do some more research tomorrow night and then get something on Monday. Leaning towards the Tagan in terms of reputation but also still considering a Fortron PSU (or Nexus or one of the other companies that Forton OEM for) cuz it's £20 cheaper and xmas is on the way...

You forgot to post a link for an OCZ Powerstream (ignore the adjustable rail gubbins & look at the other similarities).

Yup - wasn't discounting it - just that you'd already said it. We could do with a 'family tree' for all this!

I bought a Tagan 480 that was supposed to be quiet. It was good value for money but after about 10 minutes of the computer running it was just as loud a PSU as all the others! In the end I bought an Antec Sonata Case with Truepower 380 PSU. Peace at last!

Just a quick update - though I was VERY tempted by the tagan I ended up with the 400W FSP PSU. Very pleased so far... It came with a few suprises...

Fully braided cables, rheostat / pot to control fan speed, a black paint job and a blue LED fan (or possibly EL but well, it's blue and it's shiny)
