Should i choose any A64 939 cpu in particular ?

I was going with A64 3000+ skt939. Is there anything i should know? Like is the 3200+ worth the £20-£30 jump in price

Doubt it, I think they probably overclock very close to each other. A 3000+ will probably achive the same speeds as a 3500+ so im going to get the cheapest..

    A64s dont clock too well. But if a 3000 clocks to a 3200, then a 3200 will clock to a 3400...yad yada.

Simply put, a 3000 will be plenty good enough for virtually anything you want to throw at it. Getting a better one means you can go longer before you next upgrade. All depends how much money you can afford. I do tend NOT to buy the best as you are paying a large premium and I doubt you' use it. Speaking in terms of value for money a A64 3000 through to 3500 appears very good value to me when compared with memory and graphics.

The new 90nm cores clock very well. A 3000+ should do 2.4Ghz on air.

I was under the impression the 90nm only came in the 3500+ variant, i could well be very very wrong... just make sure you're getting the winchester core which i think is the 90nm codename.

Winchesters come in 3000+, 3200+ and 3500+ at the mo. My Winchester is currently doing 2.6ghz (260FSBx100) at the mo, air cooled (although no messing about - ThermalRight XP120, Delta Foccused Flow 120mm, Artic Silver 5, Fan Contoller connected), and I'm pretty sure it still has headroom.

Stock FX-55 speeds with some headroom left? Can't complain, can you?

The new Winchesters are exactly what we have been waiting for - affordable, cool running, overclockable 64bit CPUs, that do not need registered RAM.

Buy one now, if not sooner.

Actually I think the 3000 and 3200 Winchesters were available before the 3500. You're thinking of the Newcastle 3500.

The Winchesters are a great value. In terms of % overclocks they are the best A64s, although the 3700+ and FX-53s are very good, and the FX-55 is a monster (2900+MHz on stock air is common).

    Motherboards are the problem.

I was talking about 939, When i first looked into getting a A64 shuttle i saw the SN95G5 but because the cheapest 939 processor out at the time was a 3500 i dropped the idea

But now that the price difference isnt as much and the 939 3000+ is available, im looking into the SN95G5 again
