help! bios and processor problem.

Hey,

I have an A7N266-VM with an athlon xp 2600 mobile and it keeps defaulting back to 600mhz. I did the mod to be able to change the multiplyer which worked but it wont seem to save when i set it to 14x133. I have tryed updating the bios etc but nothing seems to make any difference. Any ideas?

It's not a problem - The BIOS just can't tell what the chip is and sets itself to default settings.
Set the FSB and multiplier yourself to get the speed that you want. The 2500 mobile is a 166mhz FSB chip, so i suspect the 2600 mobile is too - start with that and a multiplier of 11 and work up from there.

Make sure that you have set the BIOS up so it doesn't auto detect the chip settings

Mod likely didn't work m8, either that or you cmos clearing jumper is on wrong pins.
