    Exclamation First build troubles Help!!

Hi guys, I just completed my first build and I'm really excited. I have one problem I'd love you to help me out with. My front panel connectors are not working and I don't know why. I have connected all the cables to the MB properly but the story is still the same. The only headers responding are the USB 3.0 ports in the front, which means I can only start the PC with the MB power button.
    So my;
    Reset SW
    Power SW
    HDD Led
    Power Led
    F Audio
are all not responding. I will really appreciate it if someone can help.

Which make/model motherboard do you have please?

Can you please take a close up picture of the front panel connector on the motherboard, while the cables for the front panel are plugged into it.

Leads maybe the wrong way around. ie positive and negative are wrong. Take out and try them the other way.

Sorry if you already know this. On your leads you should have a little triangle on one of the two plugs. This is the positive so needs to go on the correct motherboard terminal. Your motherboard manual should have a blown up picture which will tell you which way they should be plugged in.

Power SW is usually the main power on/off isn't it? Confused how you're turning it on?

I've done that several times. The LED's for the power and HDD came up, and the F-audio is working too. Only the reset and power buttons aren't responding.

So its a 2 pin header for the power switch on the mainboard I am guessing. Does that actually work? Short it with a screwdriver.

In that case I would say that the front panel buttons/wires of the case are faulty.

The 2 dark red pins are for power and the 2 dark green ones for reset.

If you can short them with a screwdriver to get the desired function, then clearly it is not the motherboard that is the problem.

    Re: First build troubles Help!!

I'm starting to think that might be the problem I'm afraid. It took me 10 hrs to build the pc, and returning the case would be a huge pain in the neck. thanks for the help anyways guys.

Never nice when it turns out to be case related.
