    Re: gtx 295 help

As a guess I'm going to say that you might be able to find someone selling a non-working GPU on ebay and then swap one over from the to your card.

    Re: gtx 295 help

As it stands the card is dead right? If it is then that means you can't make it any worse.

It looks like it's the correct part and at that price it's worth trying, but until you try it there is no way of knowing whether or not anything else failed when that part was damaged. If you are confident enough to remove the damaged component and then solder on a new component then you might as well give it a go.

    Re: gtx 295 help

    That's a 2.2 uH inductor, not a resistor.

How did it break? If it was chipped and the card suddenly stopped working then it's possible replacing it would work. However as KeyBoard demon says, if it failed in use it's hard to say whether that's going to be the only damaged part.

SMT can be tricky to solder, especially if you've never done it before. It's possible to cause further damage by e.g. excess heating or dislodging surrounding components.
