Re: 5th Gen i5 NUC - Plex Transcoding

The general rule of thumb is ~2000 points on passmark per 1080p transcode for a dedicated machine. An 4th gen i5 NUC should be OK for 1 1080p stream or perhaps 2 720p streams simultaneously. I dont think the 5th Gen will be drastically different.

Edit... dont know why I didnt check if there was 5th gen scores...

Basically they are about the same result as their predecessors.

Re: 5th Gen i5 NUC - Plex Transcoding

Right, I did a bit of playing around. I installed Fedora 21 on the NUC (on a SATA 2.5" drive) and streamed Star Trek: Into Darkness to a Roku. All of my films are 1080p uncompressed BluRay rips (using MakeMKV). It was just about able to cope with the transcode, but did peak at ~ 400% CPU in parts. I'll give it a go using 2 simulatenous streams (of Star Trek as that's what caused the problems with Windows), but I don't hold out much hope.

    Is that 400% a typo?
