Possibly but dunno if I'd have been able to tell the difference! LOL.
What sort of sold the HyperX besides good reviews on sound quality and accessories was they came across as made for the purpose of longer period of wearing than the AKG 451.
I may have gone for the AKG 451 if wanted something for when on the move, I didn't wish to up the budget any further to get larger sized AKG cans either.
Anyhow cheers for posting your opinion, always good to get more thoughts on the matter .

That doesn't make them better. What makes something better is if it sounds better.
Until you've tried both, you can't comment on which is better. You can only look at it and review it objectively.
The HyperX sound great, especially for £50. Plus, they come with a microphone, great build quality (mostly metal) and you only have to deal with one cable.
I think you made the right choice in the end.
