    Exclamation New Rig Problems

I've just completed a SFF pc for Xmas, and as always have run into difficulties.
When i turn it on, my 2500-M posts as an U'nknown CPU 800MHz'
Hoping this was just a superficial problem, I inserted my XP Pro disc and carried on. It happily chugged along formatting my hard drive and copying the set up files to it.
However, after the restart and the XP loading screen, my PC decides to hang. Hoping this was a one off, I restarted, checked my CPU temp (it was around 37 degrees) and let it go again.
This time however, it didn't get past the loading screen.
I decided to leave it for a while, and then try again, this time it got past the loading screen, but hung at the same place as the first time .
    Any suggestions?

PS. The PC is a Shuttle SN45G with an XP2500-M, 512 of OCZ4200, 80Gb WDD and a 9700Pro (All brand new).

    Thanks for your time, Karl

Dunno, just thinking that an updated BIOS might be able to recognise newer CPUs - it's worked for me before.

    Can't hurt to try.

Have any of the components been used before, or is it all new?

You can check the memory using Memtest.

Also, have you tried reinstalling Windows?

The install may have been corrupted, so it's worth trying again.

will do, btw, i also set the proccessor to 2GHz via the bios, as because the motherboard doesnt know what the processor is, it is running it at 600Mhz, so ive changed the multiplier to 12 and the FSB to 166 to make sure its running at a decent speed, hopefully it will work now.

If that doesn't work set the multiplier back to 11. That is the stock for a 2500+. However it shold work nicely. Mine does 2.4 in my sn45g on air!
