Re: Will my PC be fast at 1080p
Hey
i have been researching graphics cards for a gaming rig i want to run at 1080p and all the reviews i have seen of the gtx970 clearly show you can run most games at highest settings at 60 frames plus , you would only need an additional card if you wanted to run at higher resolutions

Agreed - that config would be better suited to 1440p (good fps) or entry-level 4k.

SLI can rock.........
But coming from a run of 3 watercooled dual gpu setups
280 x 2
5970
690
I'm delighted to say that a 980ti on air runs beautifully for me at 1600p
And I will only add another if I go 4k or 150mhz (which I can't see for some while! )
SLI brings extra performance but at a high price - in more than one guise.................
Re: Will my PC be fast at 1080p
I would recommend going for the SLI setup as well, not all recent games will rock on a single 970... take the witcher 3 for example, even on SLI with everything maxed out it will barely hold above 60 fps in a stable manner. Also depends on your monitor, if you have a 120hz monitor for example, you probably want to get more than 60 fps...
Re: Will my PC be fast at 1080p
I would stick with single 970 personally at that resolution. Will play most games full spec but a couple may have to time the settings down a little, like witcher 3.
If you were going to get two cards I would personally just but a 980ti instead
Re: Will my PC be fast at 1080p
My SLI with the evga 670 4gb still provides amazing results.
Re: Will my PC be fast at 1080p
ofcourse it will why not ?
Re: Will my PC be fast at 1080p
Your default should be at 1440p, so yea..you're ok!
Re: Will my PC be fast at 1080p
That's overkill for 1080p :P My i7-4790k and GTX 780 is more than enough for 1080p! If I were you, I'd grab a 1440p monitor, as the 970 should handle it just fine.
