5.1 Speakers?

Well, his says when he was buying it about 10 years ago, he was shown a demonstration, and there was only speakers at the front. It was of a plane flying that went from the front to the back.

£1200 sounds quite a lot. I'm sure my Dad said these would be cheaper than "normal" speakers. Anyway, I very much doubt we'd be getting them as my parent don't watch enough TV to warrent it. Personally, I don't see the point in having a hi-fi system if it's not surround sound.

There were a bunch of cheap speakers around a few years back that claimed to have a "surround sound" button. It certainly changed the sound, but only the hard of hearing would call it surround...

I think that's called "virtual surround sound" (i think), and is on the TV we brought last year.
