Just another thought. Has anyone ever bought a SCSI harddrive for boot? Say an 18gig 15,000RPM disk for holding windows? I know this is expensive, but it might be a nice addition later on. I was just concerned of the noise. Would it be too loud?

That is the model I was thinking on getting. But how much did it set you back?
I gots me a 250GB maxtor DiamondMax 9. It's got itself 16MB Cache memory. You can realy notice the difference to the 8MB cache drives. It is quite noisy when reading though.Originally Posted by RDL

So is this the agreed final setup?
Also, is it better to buy all from one supplier or split it? I usually just buy all from the one, but there are some good deals going on at the moment, and ideas? Recomendations on supplier etc?
Check the cost of delivery if your buying from different suppliers .A lot of companies start with a set delivery price for for a single item but add much more for adding items. For me It actually worked out at £12.75 for delivery of £950 of computer parts all on one delivery,it would have cost me around £100 if I'd had them delivered bit by bit.I used overclockers.co.uk as they had some good deals when I ordered and all the parts were in stock but to be honest they all charge around the same prices on most items. Are you talking about the Ultra on agp or pci-e as I thought you could only get them on agp at the moment? I went for the 3.2 Winnie + 6800 Ultra (agp) I'm running all games at the highest specs and my cpu temperature doesn't break 40.Thats with the retail fan and I have water cooling to move across for when I start overclocking.Whatever you decide on you'll have one hell of a machine.
No, 6800 Ultra's are available too. I'm not sure if I will buy two or not though, I may just go with 2 gts or even 2 6600gts, we shall see.
I'l start pricing the system up on various sites tonight, only trouble is, the motherboard and CPU are out of stock in numerous places, so it might not be too accurate.
Sorry I meant to add in a 'don't' if you hadn't already spotted my mistake. This is what I actually meant.Originally Posted by jacarrja

I know what you mean about the stock I couldn't decide wether to go sli or not but the motherboards kept getting put back and I wanted a system running over xmast I daresay I'll start getting jealous when you've got yours up and running and start trying to tell myself I need to upgrade again (must cut up those darn credit cards).
Yep, ideally I wanted that one up by christmas, but it doesn't matter too much.
And yeh, I figured your mistake.
I've seen tests that show one 6800GT outperforms two 6600GTs in some games and no major wins for the 6600s.Originally Posted by StormPC

I think 6600gts are great, until they get to high res with high AA and AF. That is where they fall down.
One other question. What are the best 120mm fans around at the moment for my Akasa case?
Define best?
Power or Quiet? Or good for both?
I'd get the Vantec Tornado for power, and i think it shifts enough air on low speed so you can have it quiet too. But im no expert on fans so wait for more input
If you want quiet get SilenX from Kustom. Somewhere in the middle is Panaflo and Pabst. The Tornado is like a small jet engine, and I would not expect it to be particularly quiet even if lowered to 5V.
Is there a big cooling difference between the silent ones and the loud ones?
