    5.1 Speakers

well my crappy creative crappy labs speakers have crapped out on me, and are no longer playing sounds through the rear speakers (i've done all the tests, the sub just won't output anything through the rear speaker connections).

    so...

i need to look at some replacements. i have 3 classes of option open to me:

    1) analog 5.1's - the logitech 640's are supposed to sound excelent, and cost about £70. the altec lansing 5100s are very sexy indeed & i like altec kit, and they cost £110

    2) cheapycheap digital 5.1's - something like the scan av6 or yamaha tss-1, which offer dolby digital & dts decoding via a digital connection. not massivey useful with my current sound card but my next sound-card purchase would make digital input invaluable. however - cheap speakers may suck... about £120-£160

    3) premium digital 5.1's - £250 of do-everything speakers, like the logitech 680's. costy costy, and i was wanting to save for a new mp3 player... :/

ideas, people? NO i don't want headphones and NO i don't have room or money for a full-size decoder & shelf speakers.

The logitech z-680's are sweet, but I have the 640's and they sound suprisingly good. Everybody who has heard them can't believe I only paid $80 (canadian) for them. If you're on a tight budget, I'd reccomend those. Hope this helps.

Apparently the £150 LG ones doing the rounds at Argos are great for the money...

I woulda said Creative cos I am using the DTT3500 Digital set at the moment.

But I am guessing you dont like them any more.

Go for the Logitech Z-680s ...

Same as Spritzup, I have the 640's i got them like 4 months ago, they are pretty good for what i paid (about £70) so i am quite chuffed with them. But if i had a chance i would get the 680's they look rather nice, and i think that little remote quite is cool.
