    Power Supply

OK I've built a system but that the moment I'm just using a cheap 500W PSU that cost £10. I've heard that the quality of units at this price is not great. I'm looking for a reliable PSU that I can replace this with before something bad happens, but I don't have a lot of money to spend. I'd like about 400W of power. Anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

CWT are quite good, rebranded antecs "teh l33t0r" psu. www.scan.co.uk alternatively an antec for £50 350watt, quality, or OCZ. Be wary of getting a cheap PSU from a largerly unknown brand as it may not be quality. If you find a couple you like post on here and we can probably tell you want is best.

oh one more thing - DONT GO ANYWHERE NEAR QTEC!!! just dont.....mutual hatred on this forum...

CWT are not rebranded antecs. Samedesign, different manufacturer. Techincally its just as good, probably better, however astheticsis lower, not that people should be bothered for a psu..
I wouldnt buy from scan.. shame nowhere else sells these psu's...

Qtecs arnt particually bad,as a psu, but they are marketed as something they are not - IE a 200w unit, is sold as a 500w unit, which as you can imagine, causes a few issues.. BANG

    Say what??

They are terrible. They have a very high failure-and-take-out-rest-of-machine rate.

Irrelevant of their rating being over inflated, no PSU should blow up like Q-tecs have.

Read scans T&C. They take the money ASAP, then after 30 days they are suppost to refund you if the item is not dispatched. However, In my case, someone high up (I assume) decided to ship the wrong item instead without informing me (the invioce said specially packed and had the wrong item on it instead of what I ordered), so they could keep the money for longer/hoping I wouldnt care.. it took me almost an extra month to get a refund over when they should have refunded me.. (then even said the refund would take two weeks from when it was returned, which it did.. - WTF?) I dont like there T&C or there service.. it was poo.

    Is this thing any good?

    http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Product...30&GroupID=506

Also I can actually get to both MicroDirect and Scan.co.uk, so I don't need to bother with any postage. I had a bad experience with Ebuyer, which put me off ordering online if I can help it.
