This is true. I've been buying them for 3 decades and that's never changed, however the last few years certain aspects (like the CPU) have rapidly slowed in development. Whilst other areas of course have gained a good lick of speed. Monitors being the bane of my decision making right now!

On the bright side I used to buy 1 a year, every year. So I should just get on with ordering something "mostly what I want" and get another one in a year / two ...

I do think its not a good time to buy as the Ryzen CPU and Vega GPU are coming out this year.

Intel have had a strangle hold on the PC market for years even if the new CPU/GPU's from AMD are found not to be faster the intel prices will start drop i'm pretty sure, as there astronomically high.

    (Brexit has not helped though)

I suppose one advantage of buying now is there is potential for the pound to drop even more - I am hoping it does not - but looking at the political infighting we are still having its not really giving out a positive stance to the rest of the world.

I was sort of in the same boat. I write code for a living, so need lots of pixels (1440 27") and don't care that much for colour accuracy, so for gaming of an evening a 144Hz monitor suited me.

If you aren't bothered by gaming, then G-sync doesn't matter.
