not surewhats up , has it been working ok and all of a sudden stopped working ?

uninstall the drivers and disable the cdrom from device manager resart the machine there should be no cdrom working or atleast not the one u disabled then enable it and restart and let xp install drivers if it needs to

u mention daemon tools , are those virtual drives you have created for running games without cd's or whatever ? it might be a problem with daemon try uninstalling it restarting and reinstalling that too

or a longshot but u could try returning to a previous restore point if u use it

Do the drives appear in My Computer? Are they assigned drive letters? Are they physical hardware or, as Weebroonieuk asks are they Software Virtuals?

Are you saying they appear in the Windows 'Fake' DOS Command shell, or do they appear if you boot the computer into a full DOS environment? This makes a difference to diagnosis.

It's strange that Windows sees the drives, and yet can't use them.. To me, this suggests that cables are fine, but there is a resource conflict somewhere.. Are you running them off a PCI controller or Mobo? If PCI controller, then is _it_ setup fully?
