Usually the HID mouse driver is the biggest problem, Logitech mouse drivers are the WORST by far, the Microsoft HID driver is average in responsivness, the buttons work correctly for nearly all games, I got a saitek control pad and it came with HID keyboard and mouse drivers, it improved mouse responsivness somewhat over the microsoft drivers, BUT.. it still felt laggy vs. my very first MS Intelimouse Explorer mouse (which i also had plugged in via USB)

well your paying for comfort and looks as well i suppose (on top of the extra buttons!).. its personal choice i suppose, but I personally don't like skimping out on input devices.

No, what the hell are you talking about? Maybe this was about non-wireless mice, im so so so so sorry .

But maybe you should read posts a little bit better too...

I was talking about new mice, in fact i was agreeing with you, doh!

To be honest you sound like an inmature fanboy attacking me like that. New generation MS mice are poor. Very poor. get over it. BTW, I have been using MS optical mice since the very first one they made.

But like it said, im very very very sorry. Next time i decide to offer my advice i will PM you first to make sure i don't say anything that disagrees with your opinion.

The MX310 is a very good mouse. I think it's a little larger than the 510 so depending on how you feel this may be good or bad. The 510 is more sensitive but you may not even notice that.

I have a 510, my son has a 310. We're both very happy with our mice.

I love the generic MS optical wheel mouse.

Cheep, simple, no lag or batteries and very comfortable!

I own two of these mice and I think they are the best around, if you're
not after a mountain on buttons.

So what's better? the MX310, 510 or 1000? Or the Razor?

Its between the mx1000 or the razor, if its especially for gaming then i suppose the razor, but for all else then mx1000, the mx1000 is the best mouse, its just not designed for gaming, but its still very good for games.

Yes same technology - I would go for the MX310 or the MX300 unless you want the extra buttons and a bigger mouse (it is slightly more comfy especially for browsing).

If you just want a responsive mouse for windows then the MX1000 is about the best - very nice heavy mouse and is balanced properly unlike the MX700 ... however, I still prefer the corded mice for games (I took the MX1000 to work).

The very best mice to be had for gaming are the new razer's - very smooth indeed.

Probably worth the extra as well.

Independent tests generally show the Razer is no better than the Logitechs, while it costs more and has an odd shape (I find it very uncomfortable).

The shape is a matter of taste but the optical technology is definitely better - but tbh some people can't tell the difference and especially if you are using an LCD display (@ 75Hz for eg) then you have no hope of telling the difference.

... if you are playing games at 120Hz+ and same sort of frame rate then you will be able to notice the difference more easily.

Well bascially it is out of the MX1000 and the Razor. I don't want to buy the both of them. I will be doing a fair amount of gaming, but also a lot of general use (at least 2 hours per day)

So is the Razor up to scratch for normal use?

I like the look of that one too, the matt black is nice.

If it was £10 i'd buy it

I've used an MS Optical for a while. Not a bad mouse, but boy can you tell the difference when you use something better.

It's like the difference between driving one of those "people wagon" thingies and a sports car...
