Ordered the parts for my new rig!

Well after quite a lot of consideration I went ahead and ordered the parts for my new rig. They should be ariving in the new couple of days and then the building starts over the weekend.

In the end I bought:

AMD Athlon 65 3500+ cpu 90nm
DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D
2x512MB Corsair 3200XL Pro
XFX 6800gt PCIe
74GB WD Raptor HD
LG GSA4163B DVD Burner

I'm planning on getting it all setup at stock first and then look at various modifications.

I thought long and hard about both an SLi rig and having a Raid array. In the end could not really justify it.

Looking at the list of games currently supported on SLi I would not be getting any benefit from it yet as I dont play any of them.

Fingers crossed everything goes ok.

Good luck, mate. What heatsink and fan are you getting? Or are you going with the stock CPU heatsink/fan? Also, it would be interesting to see if your Tsunami case is noisy as I replaced the fans on mine and now it's near-silent.

I am going to use the stock HSF and get everything setup first. Presumably there is no problem with later removing the stock one and replaceing with a more effient one?

Will consider the fans as well, depending on how loud they are. Would be good to hear what you used in place of them?

The stock fans fine - thats what I use and its fairly quiet and my CPU is currently at 2.4 but I've had it at 2.6 for a while

I replaced the fans in my Tsunami case with those too, brilliant fans. Also have a look at Nexus and Globe fans, both very good and very silent . Can link if anyone is interested
