Question Two questions about my system and the Video card's software.

    Hi everyone!
Anyways, First off. I have a Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb Vid Card. I was wondering if that red ATI icon in the task bar increases performance? If I shut it off is that bad? I used to always have it off because I didnt really care for it. Now I tryed to see if it changes performance in games and the games look pretty much exactly the same as they did when it was off.

Second off. Under my computer specs I think that I should be able to play KOTOR (Knights Of The Republic) with out any choppynes. Or so I think? Yet it does have SOME choppynes here and there. What do you guys think?

    Thanks All.

    *System Specs*
    NF7-S V.2
    AMD Athlon 2400XP
    Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb
    1 gig 2x256mb 3200 Corsair & 512mb 3200 Corsair
60 gig 7200 rpm Western Digial HD
    Antec True Blue 430w PSU

The ATi icon makes no noticible difference in performance.

You're RAM configuration is not good. You need to get rid of the two 256MB sticks and get another 3200 Corsair stick so you are running in DC. Also you probably need to check your setup because your system is plenty fast. You may have some spyware affecting your performance as well. If you don't know how to set it up take it to a professional.

You can change this from your Bios, however i'm not sure the memory config you've got will allow you to run at 200

I'm guessing your CPU runs at 166FSB with a 10x multiplier at 1.65 volts and is set automatically in the bios. Hit delete during boot to enter the bios. Change from automatic to manual and you can change the FSB. Increase the FSB by 5 and test for stability with Prime95. Use the hardware monitor software that came with your motherboard to monitor the CPU temp under load. If there are no errors after a few hours running Prime95 and the temps ar OK increase the FSB by another 5. When you do start getting errors in Prime95 increase the volts to 1.675 and this should make it stable again. As you increase the volts your CPU temps will increase so it is important to keep monitoring the CPU temp. My 2500+ does 200 FSB stable at 1.725 volts and the temps are OK. Don't exceed 65 deg C and don't expect to push more than 1.75 volts unless you have top notch cooling.

you can run three sticks in dual channel, just make sure the 2 256 sticks are in the correct slots for dual channel setup (will be in your m/b manual). This is what happens with my NF2 setup.

What resolution/detail level are you playing the game at?

    1024x768 is not that high.

You need to take your system to somebody local who really knows how to tune a computer and let them check out your configuration.

Uhh I just got 13734 Points on 3DMark2001SE and I'm pretty darn sure thats not good at all. What could possibly be the problem?! None of my hardware has any problems or anything either.

Oh my gosh. I just got to a new area in my game(KOTOR) and it is being IMENSLY laggy. Think about having 2000 ping on a server and your probally playing about as glitchy as me on KOTOR. Something is obviously wrong, I have all my drivers updated and nothing is running in the back ground. I had done plenty of spyware and virus checks from a set of different programs. Is there a way to increase it's performance that i'm just not knowing about?

    Thanks guys.

If you're not overclocked that's not a bad score. If you are than it's not so good. Your Ping is affected by much more than your 3D graphics capability however.

P.s. I found that the graphics just get choppy to extremelly choppy depending on how far you can see away. For isntance, being able to see like a long distance (that I can actually walk to) it will be extremelly choppy. If i'm looking into a wall up close or something it's perfectly smooth.
