    New case and cooling

    Hi,
I'm planning on building my existing PC into a new case as although the Fractal Design Node 202 Mini-Itx Case it's in, whilst pretty is a pain to work on.

I'm also considering scrapping my new Macmini + eGPU and moving to an AMD 3950X based system so a new case/cooling system needs to be able to accomodate that if I do.

    I'm currently consdiering:

    NZXT H710i case

and I fancy some sort of watercooling. The overriding factor for the cooling is quiet. I don't want something that hums like a beehive!

Recommendations anyone? I'm not wedded to the case if there's something better. I don't mind spending a bit on cooling/case as that's something that I'm going to reuse for some time.

    TIA

You're considering a full ATX case for an ITX rig?

Have you thought about the H1? It is expensive, but you get a 650W 80+ Gold SFX-L PSU and a 140mm AIO, which are worth the better part of £200.

So do you want just a bigger easier case or a huge/full size one? I'm finding my big phanteks case easy to work in.

Air cooling can be just as quiet with a big Noctua and a good fan profile. See the latest Hexus review. https://hexus.net/tech/reviews/cooli...-chromaxblack/

Well it's ITX at the moment, but a 3950x wouldn't be. The H1 case looks lovely, but I already have the PSU, and it can only hold 2x 2.5" drives and one of the reasons I'm considering ditching the MacMini is that externally attached stuff can be a PITA.

Doesn't have to be huge, I just don't want to have to fight with cable routing and getting a full sized GPU inside the case.

Well it's as much about cooling as quietness to be honest. If I end up keeping the setup I have for a bit I'd like to overclock it - currently running at stock.

    Re: New case and cooling

Get yourself a decent air cooler like the DarkRock Pro 4 or Noctua and then go from there.

mATX is usually a good size for ease of use, quality and sound purposes when it comes to cases and you'll also still have a few PCi-e/expansion slots on tap.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

The enthoo pro has external 5.1/4 bays and plenty of removable internal drive bays plus room for big GPUs big air coolers and places for water-cooling radiators.

    Hmm... According to this

That case is even bigger than the H710i and only fits shorter GPUs....

Hmm that's almost £100 though, not far off the cost of something like a Corsair H100i PRO 240mm - would that be worth the extra so I didn't have a massive lump of metal hanging off my motherboard? I don't care about RGB.

    Re: New case and cooling

You can get it for about £70 on Amazon, I have one (Dark Rock Pro 4), incredibly quiet, quieter than the watercooler I had. Would hardly know its on, comes with a bracket as well, its well supported

    Re: New case and cooling

A high end mini-ITX motherboard and a decent mini-ITX case should be fine for a Ryzen 9 3950X IMHO.

However,if you do want to go full ATX,the MSI X570 Tomahawk looks great, and the Riotoro CR1080 is quite compact for a full ATX case too.
