Samsung B-die RAM finder(for choosing RAM for Ryzen systems)

I saw this mentioned on Reddit:

    https://benzhaomin.github.io/bdiefinder/
    https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comment...5/bdie_finder/

You can search by RAM company and it will tell what kits have B-die,and what retailers sell them!

A very handy search tool, but my goodness don't you pay for lower latency of B-die RAM

It only appears to be some SKUs.

Re: Samsung B-die RAM finder(for choosing RAM for Ryzen systems)

There are tonnes of lists about but most are outdated.

OC any C14 3000/3200 ram is going to be Bdie and good luck finding any 3400. The Rev E and CJR (?) at 3600 have tRCD of at least 18.

The real gems are the 3000/3200 C 15/16 SKUs where the had to down bin chips to meet demand.

I think is impornnat to point out that there is Bdie and Bdie. Using the Samsung specification sheets they produce a lot of oem bdie kits most of which will definitely not OC well.

On a side note thaiphoon burner has a database in it which you can search but it is by no means extensive.

Re: Samsung B-die RAM finder(for choosing RAM for Ryzen systems)

Well after reading stuff by 1usmus and watching some Buildzoid videos it seems Samsung b-die will continue to be the best DDR4 chips until DDR5.

When I first saw this 16gb kit it seemed bad value but as a guaranteed B-die it might be good value for what it is. It's on the b-die finder btw. : https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team-...my-08q-tg.html

This stuff was the cheapest set with a high probability of B-die you could get for a long time:
    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team-...my-0a2-tg.html

With Intel systems reviewers were getting 3600MHZ so it isn't too bad!

It was because the entirely of reviews had B-die,so it was really cheap for it. So if you see it cheap secondhand its worth a punt as I expect a lot of people didn't realise it was B-die,and it was available until relatively recently. It was under £75 for 16GB IIRC!

That RAM is still available but there aren't any reviews on the website: TEAM GROUP VULCAN TUF GAMING ALLIANCE 16GB (2X8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHZ DUAL CHANNEL KIT - BLAC: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team-...my-0a2-tg.html

Has anyone here ordered and checked if it is Samsung b-die?

This is confirmed b-die from Samsung but a lot more pricey:
TDPGD416G3600HC16ADC01, 3600MHz RAM Speed, CAS 16-16-16-36 Timings, 1.20-1.40v VDIMM, Samsung B-Die, Ideal for 3rd gen Ryzen, Ryzen 3000 8 Pack Approved, Lifetime Warranty with OcUK.

Not sure either, but I think it might be unlikely with those timings. IIRC B-die tends to have timings that are more consistent like 16-16-16-36 (rather than 15-19-19 etc )

The price for that overclockers team group8 is similar to what I paid for similar spec Gskill Trident-Z B-die so not a rip-off vs other B-die kits.

Now this one would be an interesting proposition if B-die (since it is 15-15-15-36-3600) and only £110 which is a bargain if Bdie.

edit - beware that 3600 speed is not native but an overclock up from 2133 so the timings probably have to be loosened to get there. 15-15-15-36 will presumably be for 2133. Still not bad. One review suggests this range use Hynix CJR chips. They're getting mostly good reviews on Amazon however.

Re: Samsung B-die RAM finder(for choosing RAM for Ryzen systems)

I'm going to test something about this - in my new 3900X build. I have obtained:

    Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz RAM.

    I have also secured:

    Corsair CMK16GX4M2Z3200C16 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz RAM, AMD Ryzen Optimised.

Neither of these would appear to be B-die, and on the CAL and other specification data they appear identical. However, one is specifically described as AMD Optimised.

So, when the rig is up and running, I'll test both sets of memory to determine if there is actually much that is different between them or if there is anything that needs to be concerned about.

You can check the ver. Number on the stickers and use thaiphoon burner to check the die.

Corsair sell so many skus that it is often a lottery.

Corsair sell so many skus that it is often a lottery. They will just bin the memory chips to a SKU specification. If they have an excess of higher bin chips they may 'down bin' some to fulfill demand.
