Can I ask why? Are you at risk of having your physical disks stolen?
Not in its current place, but moving into a student house later this year. I fully trust everyone im living with (only 3 of us, and ive known one for over 10 years), but its more the breaking-in theft im concerned about. It has some *very* personal data on there, that id be very pee'd off if i knew anyone else was viewing.Originally Posted by Rave
I can use software (somthing like The Bat! would do it nicely), but i just prefer everything to be hardware.
You could use something like Winrar and password it with a strong alpha numeric password or there is some software out there that creates like a virtual partition and you put your data in there and it has encryption. Can't remember the name though sorry

Slightly different but I use DESlock

for my works laptop which has the encryption keys in a USB dongle. Not exactly what you were asking for I know but you can you use it on a number of machines if needs be.
I can recommend bestcrypt & bcwipe software from jetico. You create a container file any size you like similar to a zip file. When you open up the file you are asked for a password and it maps to a drive letter. Very simple, effective and reliable. If you create containers at CD & DVD sizes you can easily do backups. You can then use bcwipe to overwrite the file slack and virtual memory where documents may have been cached after viewing them.
I guess it's possible somebody with access to your PC could install a keylogger and obtain your passwords. I can see why you would prefer a hardware USB key device in this respect.
