Nforce4 Drivers.

Well it seems people update their graphics drivers all the time when a latest release pops out but MANY people forget that the motherboard drivers are just as crucial to the improvement in performance gains.

Here I've Just installed the lastest nforce 4 standalone's and here they are compared to the previous on memory benchmarking ;

Nice improvement really and the system seems to load even faster now...

That's really bizzar, as the NForce4 standalone drivers (or any other chipset drivers for A64 platforms) have absolutely nothing to do with the memory controler.

I know seeing as the memory controllers built into the CPU. Maybe its down to optimisations and better coding of the audio and hardware firewall leaving more memory for other uses hence the better results using the later drivers.

At the moment I've got a 3500+ Winchester running between stock*(2.2 Ghz) and 2.6 Ghz depending on what I plan to do when the systems running.

Maybe one day I'll get an FX-55 or even FX-57 but I'm going to wait for the dual cored before I upgrade the CPU any further for the time being.

* Both tests done @ stock speed as I was only watching TV on MCE

That's quite impressive score at stock speed , i have to push my 3000 to ~2.4 to match up, think i'll get a 4200 when it comes out.

6.53 standalone kit is the latest revision released on the 15th March if I recall correctly.

Well that was a success to the extent that my PC WOULDN'T BOOT once I put the new drivers on.

Strange thing is I wouldn't normally attribute it to drivers, as it wouldn't even POST. Then for some reason it started working again. Crazy!

Anyway I'm divulging from what I was going to say. I WAS going to do a memory test on the Nforce4 with differing CAS, RAS and T1/T2 timings but I've been beaten to it by the ever so nice folks @ CORSAIR.
