A friend has asked me to spec a new PC for him. His budget is £1200(ish), which I've advised him will get something decent but not high-end. He's going to be using it for work and some 1440p gaming.
We are both mostly vendor agnostic, although I tend to stick to nVidia on the GPU side of things atm.
As a first draft, I've come up with the following:
Raptor Lake i5 13500 - £250
NZXT N5 Z690 - £155
2x16GB 3600MHz DDR4 - £100
850W Thermaltake PSU - £130
RTX 3070 - £550
m.2 PCIe 1TB SSD - £65
The above comes to £1250, and I haven't factored in a case or any secondary storage.
Also, I haven't mentioned specific parts for RAM/SSD as there are multiple options with these, at same price points.
Is the CPU a bit overkill for the rest of the system? I thought a non-K Intel would keep things simple as he's not going to be overclocking, and saves having to spec a separate cooler.
Appreciate any thoughts/feedback anyway. Thanks.
