    HELP!! Computer not starting

I just finished putting together another computer, yet when I am trying to start it, the system is turning on but it is not sending a signal to the monitor. Everything seems to be fine.

    The system is

    ASUS A8V Deluxe
    Athlon 64 3000+
    dual channel DDR400 512RAM
    Radeon 9600XT

Power is getting through to the card as the fan starts. The card works in another system so it is fine. The hard drive kicks in, and all my connections seem fine. The thing I am currently thinking is wrong is that the AGP socket is screwed or something is wrong with the motherboard.

Have you tried resetting the bios in case it has some weird settings at the moment? Im not really very helpful with problems like this, however i can suggest that you try the dedicated Help forum instead of this one.

Are there any beeps whatsoever? On the motherboards I have, a normal bootup is indicated by one or two short beeps.

Try taking everything not essential out, such as hard drives, optical drives and PCI cards. If it then boots up, put them back in one by one until you find the problem.

Also, if you take all the RAM out, does the motherboard beep?

What PSU do you have? If it's not providing enough power, it may be the culprit.

I've been checking stuff out, it's got voice POST, says failed cpu test. So I'm going to update the BIOS and see what happens, apparantly ASUS has been known for not providing good support for new stuff like CPUs. I would have got something else if I'd known there were support problems.

It may be that the are not compatable, even though they should.
What i mean is say your CPU just wont work on your motherboard, but they work properly with other parts.
It woud not be the first time i have heard this, authough it may be something else fixable, this could be what is wrong.

I'm trying to put the lasted bios on there which is supposed to make it compatable. But I can't get the stupid EZ flash thing to work. it won't load from the floppy, just keeps going on about the failing cpu test. If it doesn't work I'm getting rid of the board and not getting anymore ASUS ones.
