    Weird problem with my HDD and DVD !!

    Last night after i hang my comp up by opening like 10 prog at the same time, i reset the machine and it wipe out my 200G drive . After reinstalling XP on a different drive, i check with a recovery prog, data still the, but the disk got labelled "Unallocated space", wat's wrong ??? And now my optical drive, a Nec 3500A just doesn't work at all, although i used it to reinstall XP ?? Can anyone explain wat happened to me

    If the major hang was a BSOD then it could be a knackered / flakey IDE controller? Swap the kit to the secondary and see if that makes any difference.

    That's all I can think of sorry.

    dodgy ide cable maybe, got a spare one to test? are you using ebuyer rounded cables by any chance?
