dell and new pci graphics card

right, i'm going put a new pci 9250 graphics card in my friends dell pc and switch from using the absoulte crap of intel extreme graphics. So, do i just whack it in and hope that the pc recognises it and then the load up drivers.
Or do i have to go into the bios, and switch from onboard to pci and then shutdown, put in pci card, hook up monitor and then laod up drivers? will there be any conflicts or things to watch out for. By the way, its a dimension 3000. Thanks, John.

unistall the onboard gpu drivers first,
power down and put the pci card in,
boot up, mon should pick up new signal from pci,
install drivers like you normally would.

    should be fine.

will uninstalling the onboard drivers be in the add/remove program section? Also, if for example windows gets corrupted if worse comes to worse, how do you re-install windows on a dell pc, is it a simple procedure like on a normal pc?

should be, just make sure boot device 1 is cd/dvd, put your windows cd in and install like normal. Dell pc restrict you playing around with certain bios features but the rest of it just like any other pc.
