Any more hope for s939 AMD mATX mobos?.....Nope!

Sent an e-mail to Jetway at the weekend reference their new mATX s939 mobo; A210GDMS-Pro.

    This is their reply...

    "Dear Sir
Thank you for support JETEAY products.

the board can adjust fsb , cpu vcore, dimm core
    but we not suggest overclock

    Thank & Best Regards
    JETWAY FAE Support Team"

So yet again, although the mobo supports overclocking features, it doesn't look like it will be very stable.

No idea when a manufacturer will be able to supply a decent mATX based on the s939. Apparently peeps still awaiting the ASUS board.

Looks like SFF owners leaning towards AMD will have to wait a little while before a decent board is released. Kinda sucks. When it does come out you can be sure that the manufacturer will reap huge sales.

I would've thought most companies would officially say "don't overclock" to protect them if something goes wrong. Can you imagine if they said "go ahead and overclock", you do, fry your board and then go back to them saying "hey, you told me to overclock and now my board is buggered!"?

    I don't think they'd want that.

There isn't a motherboard out there the manufacturer will put it in writing its just fine to OC it. As pointed out, that would be a free ticket to every wannabe enthusiast to fry their boards and components and leave it to the manufacturer to pay for it all, including any colateral damage like loss of data, down time, etc. Its an unlimited liability. Just like you don't see any auto manufacturer's saying its perfectly peachy to run about at 150 mph even though the car may do so without too much complaint or other negative consequences. "Right guv, sure I was doing 150 on the I5 and blowing people off the road and causing all sorts of havoc and eventually the tires blew and I crashed and took out 20 innocents but the dealer said it was fine so its their fault, not mine. Now where's my new car?" Uh huh!

Besides, isn't OCing supposed to be risky, where's your inner pirate? Fine bunch of OCers you'll make. "Johnny, did you bring a note from your mum saying you could OC? No?, well I guess you'll just have to play with the geeks."

I have a micro-ATX board ( socket 939 based Winfast board ) in my new LAN rig.

I'll check if theres any new bios updates for it once its back from being reviewed and I've got it all running sweetly again.
