Building new system in the next 3 months

    Hello,
I am contemplating building a new base system in the near future.
I've not read much on new systems recently, having generally just skipped to the test results and conclusions in reviews, so there are quite a few things I need clarifications on.

    1) I am thinking of building around an AMD 64 X2. Are any of them known to be great overclockers? I am currently using a 2500+ because it overclocked nicely using a cheap air cooler.

    2) Are there any benchmarks between the various X2? I am curious about the difference between larger cache vs more mhz. E.g. 4400+ vs 4600+

    3) In terms of motherboard, I reckon that I will go for a DFI, unless there is a favorite around here.I am using a NF7-S v2, as it was known to be one of the best Socket A mobo. But I've heard that Abit's 939 offering isn't as attractive.
I'll also probably go for the non-SLI version, as I don't feel like going SLI.

    4) Memory. Okay, I am totally lost here. I've not looked up on memory at all, so I don't know anything here. What memory is supported and recommended for OCing X2s? Price do matter (I am looking bang for buck, not squeezing every last mhz of the CPU), and I will consider going 2x1GB.
Edit: Actually, only reason I am thinking of doing 2x1 is because the NForce 2 benefits from RAM being installed in pairs. Is this still true with the NForce 4? Otherwise, 1GB is fine for my needs to be honest.

    5) GFX card, I will probably pick the best card I can find for @ ~150-£170 then.

    6) Cooling. I cut corner on my current system by using an CM Aero Lite. But frankly, that cooler provide great bang for buck. However, it is a bit noisy, and I do leave my PC on nearly 24/7 in my bedroom. Can someone elaborate on my options here? I do want to OC (but not to "beating record at any cost" level), but I also want to lower the level a bit. I am guessing that going with something with a larger fans may do the job, although I am wondering whether I should consider watercooling.

Lucky 7) Is it possible to make all the above part and keep it within £900-1000?

Umm, bunch of views, but no takers?

(Sorry for the bump, but its been a few days - if there are still no takers, then i'll let it die for another 2 months or something )

On a side note, what is known of the M2 socket?
One of my concern is to go for a 939 mobo only to see it in the "phase out" list 2 weeks later.

That said, I am usually weary of 1st gen chipset. The nForce 1 was decent, but the nForce 2 was outstanding. I wonder if Ati can really get it right the first time round.

In terms of cost, how much should I expect to pay for an X2 CPU, mobo, RAM, GFX card and cooler?

    £350 CPU
    £130 (max?) non SLI Mobo
    £170 GFX

Leaves £250-350 for RAM and cooler.
It sounds reasonably generous to me, and I hear there is going to be an even lower end (cheaper) X2 CPU on the horizon...
    Am I missing something?

Edit: Actually, what is the de-facto most cost effective CPU post overclocking CPU right now? (Something thats comparable to a 2500+)

If you believe the Inq http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=24756

You should be able to get a good non-SLI board for~£90 or less.
Gfx depends what you need/are willing to pay.

    probably the 3000/3200+ Venice
