Nope .. You can get 8 on the A8N SLI deluxe ( 4 nvidia , 4 Silicon image ) and many boards now have about 4 but the numbers are dependant on motherboard manufacturer, chipset and if the manufacturer embeds another controller like asus have on the deluxe.

With the Serial ATA 3 Gb/s ports you will soon be able to split them and have 2 serial ATA drives both running @ SATA150 connected for even more space

Yes but the nice kind of odd, the one they have in the morning where the wonder why I'm on the floor unconscious and they're alone in a double bed.

I run two of these in raid 0 on a Asus A8N SLI Deluxe and the are very good especialy with large amounts of data. I have a couple of 120 Gb Maxtor's in raid 0 on the other controler and the Sata 2's are alot better.
The run very slightly hotter than the 120Gb Maxtor's I have.

That'e exactly why I moved away from SCSI and it's not just the drives either what about the controllers and cables

Yea, it is seriously hard to justify the cost of SCSI (I moved away too). The thing is, drives like the Raptor can compare favorably to SCSI drives for many desktop applications. No doubt that in absolute terms, the latest 15k drives will stomp the Raptor all over. But by what margins, and at what cost...

Personally I think the Main benefits from SATA 3GB/sec or whatever its caled is the guarentee of NCQ support for both the controllers and the drives. Must make windows usage a fair bit faster, especially when hammering the HDD

Doh! Just read the Anandtech article. Typical bullsh*t. Overcomplicate everything to fool the idiots. Make far more effort required when selecting a drive.

I work for a company that specialises in Storage Infrastructure and they are soon realising a new model that will house 24TB in a 2U chassis thats a lotta storage! Now their drives of choice.....SATA becuase not only are they cheaper than SCSI, more easily sourced and they have found under testing just as reliable
