Angry Is my mobo dead !!!?

    hey all

My MSI K7N2 doesn't power up, i get no beeps, no noise, no fans moving. I press my power switch and nothing happens! .
But the lights on the on-broad network card light up.
Is it my mobo or PSU?

    Cheers.

Could be either. Get a spare PSU and try it.

psu is fine, if it dont explode and suplys power (to all of the rails) then the fault has to be somewhere else... go get a multimeter/voltmeter and test it.. most ppl have one laying around there house.. or ask a friend (or just use a spare psu to eliminate that possibility of psu = dead)

reset cmos (with psu unplugged!), reseat stuff... plug monitor cable in/check for other obvios stuff that is so obvios that u might not have relised it could cause it - ive left stuff unplugged and thought it b dead a few times before

what lights light up? usually the onboard nic will stay on aslong as the board gets its +5VSB power (on all the time)

have u updated bios recently? some mobos cant change multipler correctly (5th bit of FID) and updateing bios can change the multiplyers the mobo is able to use - this will keep the screen off, fans should start though, but no beeps (or ull get a random multi like 5 or 8 or sommin)

check nothing is shorting on mobo, and that all jumpers etc are set properly - they can and do fall out regually on my old mobo

My mate brought down his pc. and we plugged the psu into it and it doesn't turn on either. So it was my psu. Shame really cos i thought chieftec Full towers came with good psu's.

    O'well.
