I have been looking for a Toshiba SD-R5372, which is CustomPC's current 'elite' drive. But it seems they can't be bought anywhere.
So does anyone have any recomendations for a drive around the £40 mark?
Cheers

NEC 3520A
cant recommend it enough and comes in black, beige or silver
As above, no problems at all with mine
I like my LG 4163 i belive it is, about 30 quid form ccl.
I see Scan have the NEC ND-3540A for £29 INC VAT (has faster dual layer writing than the NEC 3520). Would it be worth getting that over the NEC ND-3520?
LG 4167B, it is damn quiet, cool, fast and nice.

You can get any DVDRW for 40 quid these days.
NEC For top specs and cheap, e.g a 3520 or 3540 can be had for 29 as said
If you want the bee's connector joints, the new pioneer 110 is about 40, same as the 3540, but can write DVD-rDL at 8 instead of 6 speed making it the best so fat, plus its a bit sexier
One of them LG drives if you need ram burning too

Scan have the 110D for around £35 on Today Only. At that price (and free postage) it's cheaper than the computer fair.Originally Posted by Swafe
Does anybody know if the reduced length (110D) makes any difference to performance and if the drive can do all standards?
Thanks.
What free postage?Originally Posted by amjedm

I've got a Pioneer 109, excellent writer, i have no probs!
3540 again plus loads of hacked firmware about for it
I have a pair of NEC 3540s, they are the 16x dvd burner with the fastest CD write times also - reaching 48x for cd-r. And they're only around £30 each

I got a nec 3530 in a dell 5100 it is a great drive.
Except Plextors or DVDRW that support LightscribeOriginally Posted by Swafe
At the moment, the Benq 1640 is highly regarded at CDRLabs forum, and is likely going to be my next DVDRW, unless I decide to get a Lightscribe drive
